Video Pre-Selection

Clarinet video pre-selection repertoire

12-15 minutes performance of pieces in different styles of the candidate's own choice, which must include at least one of the following (may include more than one):

  • Paul Jeanjean: Etudes No. 3 & 8
  • Heinrich Sutermeister: Capriccio
  • Elliott Carter: Gra

Pieces performed in the video pre-selection may not be presented at the live rounds during the competition in Vienna.

Flute video pre-selection repertoire

12-15 minutes performance of pieces in different styles of the candidate's own choice, which must include at least one of the following (may include more than one):

  • Eugène Bozza: Image
  • Claude Debussy: Syrinx
  • Edgard Varèse: Density 21.5

Pieces performed in the video pre-selection may not be presented at the live rounds during the competition in Vienna.

Saxophone video pre-selection repertoire

12-15 minutes performance of pieces in different styles of the candidate's own choice, which must include at least one of the following (may include more than one):

  • Paul Bonneau: Caprice en Forme de Valse
  • Vincent David: Pulse (can be shortened/selected version)
  • Charles Koechlin: 2 Etudes from 15 Etudes

Pieces performed in the video pre-selection may not be presented at the live rounds during the competition in Vienna.

Requirements:

  • The recording can be made with a phone, camera, or any other equipment available to you.
  • The description/title of your video must include your name, the name of the composer, and the title of the piece you are performing.
  • Your hands, face and the whole silhouette must be clearly visible. We accept only unedited videos.
  • Submit links to public platforms such as YouTube or Vimeo. Please do not send files for us to download.
  • The videos can either be submitted as separate links, or the entire programme may be combined into one link with a separate chapters or bookmarks.
  • Please make sure your video is not restricted as “private” so we can have free access.
  • The recording must be no older than six months prior to the deadline for submission of applications.
  • The pieces may be performed with music scores.
