"Classic Winds" • International Saxophone and Clarinet Competition and Festival
6–10 May 2018
Hamburg • Germany

Dear music lovers and friends!

I am very glad to welcome you to Hamburg in May 2018 for the "Classic Winds" international music festival. This special event is dedicated to both single reed woodwind instruments of the classical music world: Saxophone and Clarinet.

I hope that the competition will encourage young artists from all over the world to learn from each other and to express their passion about music and their instruments to the audience during the entire competition.

I'm also happy to have an opportunity to acknowledge the European Capital of Culture 2018 - Valletta with a piece by a Maltese composer in the final of the competition.

I wish you a wonderful time in the beautiful city of Hamburg, lots of inspiration and good luck!

Sincerely,
Asya Fateyeva

Dear Participants and Music Lovers!

We are proud to announce that the Second edition of “Classic Winds” International Festival which is being organized by the European Foundation for Support of Culture will take place in the beautiful city of Hamburg. Germany is one of the most important music centres in the world and famous for its musicians, artists, and composers.

In 2018 Malta’s capital city Valletta will be the European Capital of Culture and on this occasion, we are very happy that in the Final Round of the competition the compulsory composition will be "Verdiana" by a very well-known contemporary Maltese composer Alexey Shor.

The mission of the European Foundation for Support of Culture through the presentation of this Festival is to discover, promote, support and document the great masters for wind instruments emerging in this generation; to rediscover unusual repertoire while providing audiences with a unique musical experience; to build the audiences of the future to help ensure the very existence of classical music.

With so many artistic achievements to its credit, the European Foundation for Support of Culture looks forward towards the continued success of its classical music projects in the future.

I welcome all participants to “Classic Winds” International Festival and I wish everyone good luck and success.
